Motivation

I think Leesa's last two posts lead to the perfect question for this week:

What motivates you?

As for me, music is the force that drives me. I can hear a song and see an entire scene unfold in my head. So far in my writing career, nothing else has been as strong of a motivational tool as music. I've even created a folder in my iPod for songs that I've found to work the best for me. Try it, it might work for you too! :o)

  2. Music is one of my strongest motivational tools as well. I too will hear a song and my writing wheels will start to spin. Another thing that motivates me is when someone reads some of my story and they love it. To me that is the most rewarding feeling I can imagine and I love when someone says, 'When do I get the next chapter? I'm dying to know what happens next.' That for me is motivation to continue struggling to find time, to push through the blocks, and to keep having fun in my own head. :)

  3. My motivation more comes from the things around me, the experiences I have, the people I meet, or sometimes just a random scenario that I play out in my head. Music does help, or enhance sometimes, for sure. Seeing as how lately I have been in a bit of a funk myself, its hard for me to explain what gets me through them, because I don't really know yet myself :)

  4. Motivation? Who's motivated? It's a swinging pendulum between a love of stories that I've dreamed up (whether consciously or unconsciouly) and discipline. There are days when I write for twelve hours straight because I'm so involved in the characters and the scenes are flowing like gravy on Thanksgiving. Then, there are days when I sit down at my computer and work strictly because I need to get past a scene that I'm struggling with. So, motivation isn't really the word I would use. It's discipline for me.
